Preparing for the CentennialThe Kappa Beta Chapter of Chi Omega continues to flourish, with success in recruitment, outstanding academics, and members who sincerely keep the Fraternity's welfare "ever at heart." Two years ago, Kappa Beta celebrated its 90th anniversary on the Rhodes College campus. In its 90 years, the chapter has initiated over 2,100 Sisters and, during the 2011-2012 academic year, had a record 150 collegiate members.
As Kappa Beta's membership increases, so, too, does the need for additional space in the Lodge. The Chapter Room was retired a number of years ago when the space was outgrown. Meetings were moved into the Great Room until recently when the chapter outgrew this space as well. Additional room that will accomodate for the growing size of the chapter, continue to ensure members' safety, and allow Chi Omega to stay competetive with the other sorority facilities on the Rhodes campus is neccessary. First Phase Nears Completion! We are excited to announce the first phase of our plan is near completion! The common wall shared between the Chapter Room and the Great Room has been removed to form one large multi-purpose room. Our next step is to unify the new space by extending the wood paneling throughout the room and to repair and refinish the floors throughout the house.
The second phase of the project is to retire the loan required to install the fire suppressant sprinkler system, which was mandated for all Chi Omega properties and subsequently installed several years ago. The chapter is SO excited to enjoy our new and spacious multi-purpose room! We invite you to stay tuned for more information regarding phase three of the Kappa Beta chapter's Centennial preparation! We are so thankful for generous alumnae and friends who have already financially supported our project!
